Two Hat Tricks One Cup
Lavender went to the Winterhawks hockey game on Friday night at the Rose Garden. Because Lavender is held with such high-regard that Lavender was awarded a media pass credential …mainly from his award winning sports journalism on sportschop.com (…nevermind you already know that). Prior to puck drop, Lavender found his way to the Media Room. The menu was a vegetable tray, chicken wings, popcorn, coffee, and fountain sodas. Lavender had a piece of broccoli and I think it the other thing was zucchini, a couple of wings, enough popcorn to feed a opening weekend theater and cherry coke. Unfortunately, there was an accident as soon as I sat at an uneven table …and the cherry coke spilled on the table cloth and my fellow journalists gazed at me in disgust. I did use the same darn cup and got a refill and another.
The crowd was nearly 11,000 at the Rose Garden (a record maybe for winterhawks?) and full of energy, mascots …a few annoying vuvuzelas. I was then graced with Kidd’s presence and we looked for some seats. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much selection because it was sold out and the media tables were packed. Don’t they know who I am? Ummmmm… I know Porkchop, founder and proprietor of Sportschop.com, the garbage can of sports. Enuff said. Nino Niederreiter, the Swiss Sensation, and future New York Islander superstar (#5 pick in NHL Draft), scored three goals in the 9-1 slaughter over NW rival Seattle Thunderbirds. Brad “The Ice Boss” Ross also showed a hat trick with three goals and will eventually join the Toronto Maple Leafs in the coming years. The Winterhawks are now off to a weekend in British Columbia playing Vancouver and Chillawack.T-N-T Dynamite!
